Welcome to Mae’s Way Foundation

Between 7,000 and 12,000 children are left behind by suicide each year.

Mae’s Way Foundation exists to reach, serve and support them.

Mae’s Way Foundation offers comfort bags to families with children who have lost a parent to suicide.

As part of a new pilot program, comfort bags are now readily available in select Indiana counties through local representatives.

Each bag includes comfort items for the child and valuable resources to help adults navigate this challenging time together.

“When I found myself broken and at a loss for how to help my two daughters heal from losing their dad to suicide, Mae’s Way comfort bag helped me start. The items in the bag gave me ways to talk to them and things to think about that would be hard for them. I took comfort from knowing that I was learning how best to help them heal.”

Our founder, Michele Gates, was awarded the 2024 Community Partner of the Year Award by the National Association of Social Workers - Indiana Chapter.

Thank you!

This recognition reflects Mae’s Way Foundation’s dedication to supporting children left behind by suicide and the mental health workers who serve them.

Together, we’re making a way for children left behind by suicide!
